Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Wisdom tooth extraction is a very common procedure to remove one or more of the third molars, located at the very back of your mouth. These teeth are the last to emerge, usually in your late teens or early twenties, and often there isn't enough space for them. This can cause them to grow in at an angle or get trapped (impacted), leading to pain, infection, and crowding of other teeth.

Who is this suitable for?

You may need your wisdom teeth removed if you experience:

  • Pain, swelling, or stiffness around your back jaw.
  • Crowding of your other teeth.
  • Repeated infections or gum disease around the wisdom tooth.
  • Damage to nearby teeth or bone.
  • Cavities on a wisdom tooth that is difficult to clean.

Normal Extraction

This is a straightforward procedure used when the wisdom tooth has fully emerged from the gum and can be removed easily.

Minor Surgery

This is required if the tooth is impacted (stuck under the gum). The procedure involves making a small incision in the gum to access and remove the tooth. It's a routine surgery performed with local anaesthesia.
